Standing on Sacred Ground |
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great sight and see why the bush is not burned up.” When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said further, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” -Exodus 3 Dear Friends, What makes the place on which we stand, on which we are, sacred? Have you ever seen a sunrise or a sunset that holds you suspended? Whatever you had next to do is no longer as immediate as it was seconds ago? Have you ever been lost in worry and anxious thoughts and looked up to see a hummingbird greeting you? What about when you are in the presence with others and there is a knowing, a familiarity, even if you have just met? Or those times when you are with someone you have not talked with in years and somehow you both just pick up where you left off? The creation of such a space with others is offered through our coming adult formation opportunity: Sacred Ground. It begins September 13th at 6:30 and is offered on various Wednesday evenings in September and through February 2024. Click HERE for details. Situated in the context of our faith, we will come together onto sacred ground. We will get to engage in dialog about our faith and race in America using film and readings as an input. Another input: our own lives and experience. Our life in Christ is meant to transform us. And this series can transform us and remind us whose we are. Join us! In Peace,Rev. Dina |
