Dear Friends at Epiphany,
After joining Epiphany in 2013, I found my niche in Parish Life where I continue to participate today. I also served on the vestry from January 2019 through March 2022.
This year’s Annual Giving campaign theme of “Reimagine the Possible” brings to mind the word “pivot” which was used extensively throughout the pandemic. We read quite often about people, organizations, businesses, healthcare, stores, restaurants and so many others having to pivot and quickly change their way of doing business to serve the public and stay afloat financially.
It was no different at Epiphany. During my tenure on the vestry during the pandemic, I saw so many of our members pull together to reexamine and change the business-as-usual way we did things while operating in uncharted territory. It was truly remarkable. We questioned, we discussed, we acted and quickly did things that in February 2020 would have seemed inconceivable. We pivoted.
But after you pivot, then what? As the pandemic starts to fade and people get back to what many call the “new normal,” I believe we have a new word to describe where we are now: Prevail.
We at Epiphany have prevailed. The pandemic taught us so many things on so many levels – what is important, what we can discard, what we should keep, and what we can simplify. This view opens a whole new universe of priorities, ideas, programs and focus as we look at the world and Epiphany through this new lens. It truly has changed everything.
With this new perspective in mind, and the pandemic hopefully in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look forward. It’s a new day.
This year, we have a wonderful new rector who comes to us with so much knowledge, enthusiasm and a fresh pair of eyes to help us grow and flourish. There is noticeable excitement by our members to gather again in person to see their church family – whether it’s at fellowship hour after Sunday service or to participate in the many programs that Epiphany offers to church members, our youth and those in the community. We once again are welcoming first-time attendees coming to Sunday service.
It’s an exciting time at Epiphany. Please “Reimagine the Possible” and consider joining us with your time, talent and treasure as we look to the future in new and innovative ways.
Blessings,
Anne Johnson
