Dear Friends at Epiphany,
My name is Allie Dockum and I attended Epiphany for a short time between March and August of this year. I came to Epiphany not knowing what to expect. In March, I had begun dating Steven (the really cute guy) and I attended because he encouraged me to. While I grew up in the church, it was never quite my “thing.” I had never been a part of a church where my family was not and where I didn’t know anyone – it was just me.
On one hand, the idea that I was by myself was entirely true. I discovered Epiphany was a place where I could sit during service and reflect through the literature and pick out what I believe, what I think. Epiphany exposed me to a solo-faith journey – I learned I enjoy it.
On the other hand, I was SO not by myself. I found a wonderful, amazing, compassionate community and I miss y’all dearly. Thank you for welcoming me and giving me a place to go when I especially needed it. Thank you for all the laughs, meals, and friendships. Thank you Dana for recommending St. Augustine’s Episcopal to me where I have found another special community in my new home. Epiphany taught me to be receptive to all new things because you never know what can be added to your life until it’s there. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope to visit whenever I’m in town again.
Yours,
Allie
